Sales Policy
CG Heartbeats Farm is pleased to provide you with chickens that meet your goals and will do that to the best of their ability.
All sales are final. However, please communicate any problems or dissatisfactions. If we do not have a conversation, I will be unable to work with you to find a solution that works for both parties.
There are times that accidents can happen to both hatching eggs and live birds that are out of CG Heartbeats Farm control. For example, if the shipping company damages the package during shipping. Also, conditions during shipping could stress a bird to the point of loss of life or render hatching eggs to no longer be fertile. CG Heartbeats Farm will not knowingly ship or sell unhealthy birds. A particular pen will show it is producing fertile hatching eggs in an incubator on the farm before eggs are available to be shipped. CG Heartbeats Farm will only ship eggs from particular pen that has shown fertility when incubated on the farm. Eggs from a pen that has not shown fertility on the farm will certainly not be fertile after shipment.
If CG Heartbeats Farm is unable to provide an interested buyer with hatching eggs, chicks, or birds at the time of their request due to either weather conditions, limited supply or no current supply, CG Heartbeats Farm will gladly add a prospective buyer’s name to a list. CG Heartbeats Farm does not at this time require a deposit to put their name on a list.
CG Heartbeats Farm will not hold hatching eggs, chicks, grow out, or adult birds indefinatly, if prospective buyer is unable to pay for them and the transportation to buyer’s location. CG Heartbeats Farm will do their best to work with prospective buyers with the understanding that if a another buyer becomes available for the birds they are interested in, these birds will go to the buyer who can pay for them and the transportation. A prospective buyer is welcome to purchase birds in the future when they have money available to do so.
Shipping Policy
Live birds
The United State Post Office is the only shipping company through which birds are mailed. Shipping costs are set by them.
If CG Heartbeats Farm or buyer can make other arrangements to save you money on shipping charges, they are happy to work with you. Examples would be:
- Driving to meet buyer for pick up
- If someone is traveling to buyer’s area
- If buyer is traveling to CG Heart beats Farm’s locality.
- Finding a livestock hauler that is traveling the buyer’s way and is willing to transport birds for a fee set by them. CG Heartbeats Farm has no way of knowing what a livestock hauler would charge until CG Heartbeats Farm or the buyer finds a livestock hauler willing to transport with other livestock they are hauling.
Additional considerations: Insurance can be purchased at buyers cost when shipping with the USPS. Any other transportation method may not have an insurance option.
Hatching Eggs
Hatching eggs ship either priority mail or express mail depending on the current USPS projection of when they will arrive. The cost will vary based on current USPS prices. To give an idea of cost for 12 eggs ( 1 doz) or less the cost to ship Priority Mail is around $15 to $20
Handling Charges
Handling charges are to cover material, gas, and time involved in preparing. These are often minimal. The following gives an idea of what they might be.
Handling charges for live birds.
CG Heartbeats Farm ships only in USPS approved containers when shipping through the Postal Service. These are not free to purchase and will be an additional charge. Currently the price for shipping container is around $2 for up to 25 – day old chicks and $10 per adult bird. These prices are subject to change, but are intended to give you an idea of what the cost would be.
Handling charges for hatching eggs
There is a small fee for packaging material to ship eggs this includes local pick up. CG Heartbeats farm packages hatching eggs for local pick up the same as an interior shipping box for mailing. (We want you to hatch chicks, too.) CG Heartbeats Farm will do their best to secure the eggs from moving around inside the package. They want you to hatch chicks from the eggs sent you. CG Heartbeats Farm is unable to prevent accidents once the eggs leave their possession. An example would be damage to the box causing eggs to break or the package being x-rayed despite being marked NO X-RAY.
