About

I like to spend my days in a laid-back fashion, not that I never work hard.  Rather, I like to approach each day with a lack of hustle and urgency that seems to fill our current society.

Welcome to CG Heartbeats Farm

This farm is a work in progress as am I.

The Blog

The blog shares many aspects of what life on a farm and homestead might encompass.  From treasured books and music to various species of animals for blessing ones heart and providing food on the table. From the importance of relationships including spiritual, family and friends to ideas new and old of how to produce, preserve, and cook home raised vegetables and fruits.  Traveling to connect with others, see new places and the beauty of the wonderful world we live in adds a twist to the homesteading journey.

The Farm

The farm pages provide info on the animals we raise and at times have available for purchase. Currently Swedish Flower Hens are the only chicken breed on our farm.  Horses have long been close to my heart but as of November 2024 I am taking a break from horse ownership.

2021 marked the appearance of Nigerian Dwarf goats and the beginning of our herd. Goat math is every bit as bad as chicken math, trust me!  We have ADGA registered goats available most of the time.

Along with the goat ownership, I learned to make artisan goat milk soap which is available for local pick up and via our online store. Access by clicking below:

A Few More Details

Beginning in 2025 I began implementing AMP Grazing techniques with the Nigerian Dwarf goats.

In 2026 I plan to apply and obtain a license to sell raw pet milk. If you are local you may find me at local farmers markets with goat milk soap (scented with essential oils) garlic, eggs and seasonal produce.

I started this journey in 2016 when I purchased my first Swedish Flower Hen chicks. I added Silver Grey Dorkings and Lemon Cuckoo Niederrhieners.  While I kno longer raise the later 2 breeds I do want to purchase Silver Gray Dorking chicks in 2026. The Lemon Cockoo Niederrhieners were a great disappointment and to my knowledge there is no place to purchase the original breed (as found in Germany) here in the US. There is a version of this breed available but not the same as the birds found in Germany where LCN originated.

Aneta our female Great Pyrenees arrived in 2020 as a pup. Lewis our male joined us December 27, 2022. They have done an excellent job protecting our livestock and alerting us as needed. Great Pyrenees is unique breed and not for everyone. I encourage people to research, research, research before committing to this breed.

Nigerian Dwarf goats joined the farm in 2021. They produce milk with butterfat as high as 10%. Delicious and it has now become my coffee creamer.

The does are on milk test some years. I fell short in 2025. But plan to resume testing in 2026.

If you are looking to add goats to your farm, I offer milking does, dry does, kids and bucks for sale from time to time. Most would be competitive at a 4-H/county fair level and up.

I live with chronic illness in various forms. I desired to start this farm to raise healthy food options for myself and others. Each year looks a little different as I learn and grow in my personal journey. I enjoy drinking goat’s milk, having farm fresh eggs, making goat milk soap, raising garlic among other produce grown here.

Garlic for 2026

Due to a less-than-optimal harvest in 2025 it looks like our garlic availability will be down in 2026 from previous years. Check back early in September or follow along on Instagram @countrygirlheartbeatsfarm
