I am feeling super happy as this pen allows CG Heartbeats Farm to offer crested Swedish Flower Hens. Pen # 8 consists of hens from Pen # 7 crossed with 1 crested rooster from My Flower Farm’s GG Pen. Hatching eggs from this pen will be available in mid to late December 2019.
What you need to know about crested Swedish Flower Hens: Breeding crested to crested, I have been told, results in chicks with vaulted skulls. For this reason at CG Heartbeats Farm crested SFH’s will be crossed with non-crested SFH’s. A crested bird crossed on a non-crested bird produces a crested chick 50% of the time. With 1 crested rooster in this pen roughly 50% of the offspring will be crested. This is the only pen producing crested birds as of the fall of 2019.
