Swedish Flower Hens ~ Pen # 6

The Rooster

Raphel hatched from Pen # 4 on July 1, 2018. I found him beautiful. As important as beauty is, his toes are correct, his wings are not split and his wide stance and depth of body provide all the traits I am working to produce and maintain in the Swedish Flower Hen breed.

UPDATE: I recently realized that Raphel does, in fact have a small sprig on the bottom rear of his comb as shown in the picture below. I have not up until now used a hen or rooster with sprigs. At this time Raphel is staying in this pen. He is a sweet guy. I am not ready to send him to the freezer. If by him having a sprig, his offspring will not meet your goals, please choose eggs or chicks from a different pen at CG Heartbeats Farm. I may consider rehoming him to a different location if he would fit your breeding or other chicken goals.

The Hens

As of September 2019 there are 3 hens for Raphel to lead.
The hens comprise the offspring of Barb Bartle stock (no longer available) crossed with stock from My Flower Farm (Lisa Flower Tanner). The 2 black based sno leopard hens (pictured below) hatched from a limited pairing of a black based sno leopard and a black based hen that carries the sno leopard gene. They are almost identical, I will be banding them to tell them apart. The third hen, is also black based, but not a sno leopard. A black based mille fleur, she hatched from Pair #1 in the spring of 2019. I plan to continue adding hens to this pen as I raise them. I currently have two breeding pairs of Barb Bartle stock crossed on My Flower Farm stock.

I am excited for the offspring of this pen. I am expecting a lot of sno leopard color from this pen. There is potential for the hen that does not present sno leopard color to carry the sno leopard gene.
