Swedish Flower Hens ~ Pen # 11

Pawnee and his hens from Cherokee’s Pen make up CG Heartbeats Farm Swedish Flower Hen Pen # 11. This pen consists of entirely blue based Swedish Flower Hens. It is a pretty pen to view.

Why an all blue based pen? Does it take away from the diversity Swedish Flower Hens are known for? In the case of this pen, I say, no. I set up my pens here based on their linage. All the hens in pen 11 hatched from Cherokee’s pen. Cherokee being a splash rooster can only produce splash or blue based offspring.

It is true, I could have chosen a black based rooster to cover these lovely blue ladies, but for the time being I chose the beautiful blue based Pawnee.

The Rooster of Pen 11

Pawnee is a son of Shawnee (Pen # 10) hatched from Pen # 7 here at CG Heartbeats Farm. The hens in Shawnee’s pen hatched from eggs I hatched here out of My Flower Farm’s GG Pen in 2019.

Pawnee is blue based and appears to carry the sno lepard gene. He has matured into a lovely size although not as large as Cherokee.

As I mentioned above Pawnee’s hens hatched from Cherokee’s Pen. Cherokee weighs over 7 lbs. I hope to promote his size in the future offspring of the SFH’s by continuing his line.

While all the hens are blue based, the each provide different examples of what a blue based Swedish Flower Hen might look like.
